Thinking activity on The white Tiger novel

Hello Readers,
Here I share my review about The White Tiger novel, according to this link Click Here

How far do you agree with the India represented in the novel The White Tiger?

I am strongly agree with the India represented in the The White Tiger. Most people don’t like this type of text because they want to show only good things and ignore reality. But Aravind Adiga present real image of India.
I prove this statement with examples of the novel-

First of all Balram himself clear about India's image- Please understand, Your Excellency, that India is two countries in one: an India of Light, and an India of Darkness. The ocean brings light to my country. Every place on the map of India near the ocean is well off. But the river brings darkness to India—the black river.Satire on Indian religious God
See, the Muslims have one god.

The Christians have three gods.
And we Hindus have 36,000,000 gods.
Making a grand total of 36,000,004 divine arses for me to choose from.
River Ganga-
Mother Ganga, daughter of the Vedas, river of illumination, protector of us all, breaker of the chain of birth and rebirth. Everywhere this river flows, that area is the Darkness.

Government Education system of India-
The teacher turned aside and spat—a jet of red paan splashed the ground of the classroom. He licked his lips.. .  Once, a truck came into the school with uniforms that the government had sent for us; we never saw them, but a week later they turned up for sale in the neighboring village. No one blamed the schoolteacher for doing this. You can't expect a man in a dung heap to smell sweet.

Indian Village’s Hospital
Now, you—Dr. Ram Pandey—will kindly put one-third of your salary in my palm. Good boy. In return, I do this." He made a tick on the imaginary ledger. "You can keep the rest of your government salary and go work in some private hospital for the rest of the week. Forget the village.

Indian faith on God
sides—the temple. Inside, you will find an image of a saffron-colored creature, half man half monkey: this is Hanuman, everyone's favorite god in the Darkness. Do you know about Hanuman, sir? He was the faithful servant of the god Rama, and we worship him in our temples because he is a shining example of how to serve your masters with absolute fidelity, love, and devotion. These are the kinds of gods they have foisted on us, Mr. Jiabao. Understand, now, how hard it is for a man to win his freedom in India.

Indian Democracy
But I told you, there's only one thing wrong with this place—we have this fucked-up system called parliamentary democracy.

India's election
At the tea shop, the gossip grew furious. People sipped their tea and discussed the same things again and again. Would they do it this time? Would they beat the Great Socialist and win the elections? Had they raised enough money of their own, and bribed enough policemen, and bought enough fingerprints of their own, to win? Like eunuchs discussing the Kama Sutra, the voters discuss the elections in Laxmangarh.

Indian politics
"He got into politics because he had to, Ashok—you don't have a choice in the Darkness. And don't panic, we can deal with this income tax charge. This is India, not America. There's always a way out here. I told you, we have someone here who works for us—Ramanathan. He's a good fixer."
So these are the proofs of The White Tiger novel is representation of the Indian society.

Do you believe that Balram's story is the archetype of all stories of 'rags to riches'?

Yes, I believe Balram's story is the archetype of all stories of 'rags to riches'. Because when we read real story of rags to riches people they most of like Balram Halwai . But they are like hero of our society because most of people know only their success story they may be don't know about dark side of Entrepreneur. For example who know our present time PM's past life story with full details. And who knows Dhirubhai Ambani’s real story of success. I think we all know their story of struggle like PM struggled and they become PM and Dhirubhai Ambani struggled and he was become rich but can we think that their struggle may be different from us like – ordinary people 🏃to compare
 Entrepreneur🏇.

Write a blog on similarities between The White Tiger and Slumdog Millionaire. Include following points:

1. Narrative structure - Wanted Poster # KBC show

In the novel Balram read wanted poster himself and he knew this type of killer find himself also because he had also done murdered of his master. While in the film Jamaal Malik reading his past and this movie narrative folded with three leyer. Police station to KBC to past his life events when he find answers of questions.

2. Indianness
The White Tiger novel and Slumdog Millionaire film both story of to become Millionaire protagonist character who belong to slum and ultimately they become rich. But both rags to Riches story is completely different because Balram Halwai killed his master then he become rich while Jamal Malik become rich depend on his knowledge. But both thinking comprehensive it match with each other like observed everything.
Narrative structure of film and novel both like same flash back and followed reverse chronological in the novel as well as Film.
Also we can identify Indianness in the novel as well as in the film Slum dog Millionaires. For example Hindu and Muslim between define different that kind questions asked Pinky Madam to Balram while in the movie slum dog Millionaires Jaman Malik's mother died because of religion difference. Other examples to showing dirtiness of India Balram give examples of holy river Ganga while in the film show dirty place of India.

b) Sanchi Stupa
c) Hampi with Char
d) Sanchi Stupa

4. On what grounds can u deconstruct the film with reference to postcolonial tools/theories.

In the film, some of scene portrait like Britisher are superior than Indian. Why this happened because this film made by Danny Boyle who belongs to British. That's why he made a film like this. Because they have stereotype belief towards India. Maybe this is the reason of he didn't show any good things of India everything described as negative sence either even a single scene described as positive of India.

5. Compare with Texture and Treatment of subject content in film and novel.
Both film and novel texture and treatment most of same like corruption, cheating, murder, power of money. But Balram became rich to killed his master while Jamal became rich through his knowledge. The problems of class and caste, poverty and richness, joint family, slum area there are same problem in both novel as well as film.

Thank you
