Thinking activity on Da Vinci code novel by Dan Brown

Hello Readers,

Here I given answer according to this link Click Here
Da Vinci code

1. Brown states on his website that his books are not anti-Christian, though he is on a 'constant spiritual journey' himself, and says that his book The Da Vinci Code is simply "an entertaining story that promotes spiritual discussion and debate" and suggests that the book may be used "as a positive catalyst for introspection and exploration of our faith."

According to me this statement behinds two reasons first he said himself his books are not anti-Christian because when we see in our society there are majority of people are blind follower of religion that’s why in this novel blind follower faith broken by professor Robert who is also blind follower and according to this novel Sophie Nenue who is blood line of Jesus Christ even she doesn’t show believe of God. So maybe on the other hand Brown give sign that if anyone blood line of God even they don’t become blind follower. Robert also finding truth of Christ and at the end of the novel he found truth so here again blind follower faith broken, this way every faith depend on illusion and people don’t know that illusion and they become blind follower of religious. According to Christian religion married people not becomes priest this thing I noticed in The Scarlett Letter novel because priests said directly or indirectly they are not married and pore blooded so they are like God but they don’t know truth of their God and without knowing they become blind follower of the God and they don’t accept their God was also human being. So according to me suggests that the book may be used "as a positive catalyst for introspection and exploration of our faith.

2. “Although it is obvious that much of what Brown presented in his novel as absolutely true and accurate is neither of those, some of that material is of course essential to the intrigue, and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman has retained the novel's core, the Grail-related material: the sacred feminine, Mary Magdalene's marriage, the Priory of Sion, certain aspects of Leonardo's art, and so on[1].” How far do you agree with this observation of Norris J. Lacy?

2. (If)You have studied ‘Genesis’ (The Bible), ‘The Paradise Lost’ (John Milton) and ‘The Da Vinci Code’ (Dan Brown). Which of the narrative/s seem/s to be truthful? Whose narrative is convincing to the contemporary young mind?

According to me The Paradise Lost (John Milton) narrative is more convincing to the contemporary young mind. Because Milton rationality in his narrative for example Eve asking questions and also get knowledge and which knowledge we know while Da Vinci code story depend on facts. Facts are fact only so somewhere both stories somewhere problematic but according to me The Paradise Lost narrative maybe convincing to the contemporary young mind.

3. What harm has been done to humanity by the biblical narration or that of Milton’s in The Paradise Lose? What sort of damage does narrative like ‘The Vinci Code’ do to humanity?

Both narration have been damage for blind follower because in the The Paradise lost book show Eve as female even she broken rule and her character like scientific than moral that's why our patriarchal society's blind follower believe this narration harm has been done to humanity. And Da Vinci code is about searching true of Christ then again blind follower don’t accept their moral person (God)has relations with girl and he was also human being he had his sexual desires it is natural for every human being so that kind of narration blind follower beliefs damage also their sentiment hurt.

4. What difference do you see in the portrayal of 'Ophelia' (Kate Winslet) in Kenneth Branagh'sHamlet, 'Elizabeth' (Helena Bonham Carter) in Kenneth Branagh's Mary Shelley's Frankenstein or 'Hester Prynne' (Demi Moore) in Roland Joffé's The Scarlet Letter' or David Yates's 'Harmione Granger' (Emma Watson) in last four Harry Potter films - and 'Sophie Neuve' (Audrey Tautau) in Ron Howard's The Da Vinci Code? How would justify your answer?
Ophelia, Elizabeth, Hester Prynne, Hermione Granger, Sophie Neuve are different novel character but maybe many of situation their level like same they are like helpless characters and they need man help. For example at the beginning of the novel Harmione Granger shown much knowledgeable and excellent in the class but then she shown helpless and she want to support of Harry even she is more knowledgeable than Harry. Other novel character like Sophie Neuve is also excellent girl and also cryptologist  even one movement her character portrait without man help maybe she couldn't know her identity also.

5. Do novel / film lead us into critical (deconstructive) thinking about your religion? Can we think of such conspiracy theory about Hindu religious symbols / myths?

Yes, I can also think about my religion as per Hindu religion God marriage don’t shown like bad because Hindu's God and Goddesses most of married and people accept it. But some of are myth like unbelievable like Hanuman image as God and his image like Bramahchari people followed him and he is like Kalyug Dev but people don’t know his marriage story even some of are know so they don’t accept.  Recent issue of Shanidev temple their rule don’t allow women to enter in the temple but why this is without reasons rule or myth who created by blind follower.

6. Have you come across any similar book/movie, which tries to deconstruct accepted notions about Hindu religion or culture and by dismantling it, attempts to reconstruct another possible interpretation of truth?

Yes, there are the books and movies which tries to deconstruct accepted notions about Hindu religion or culture but they famous many problems also. For example Amish Tripathi retelling of mythical characters like God Shankar, Sita, Ravan in this novel he attempts to reconstruct another possible interpretation of truth. And film like Super-30 also broken Hindu religion sign and deal with reality but it is bad things that there are less film to interpretation religion own different angles.

Thank you
