1) How would you like to explain Eliot's concept of Tradition ? Do you agree with it ?
I agree with T.S.Eliot concept of Tradition because Eliot speaking from a modern critic's point of view. He positively introduce word tradition. According to him tradition mean writer develop historical sense it is most important thought for any writer. Eliot explain tradition has a three fold significant. I like his first fold tradition cannot be inherited and involves a great deal of labour and erudition.
2) What do you understand by Historical sence?
I understand historical sense enable a writer to write not only of the pastness of the past, but also of its presence and historical sense enables a writer to write not only with his own generation in mind, but with a feeling that the whole of the literature. It is probably thought for writers if writer blindly adherence to the literary tradition of the past tradition so its like copying work and Its not like individual work for reader. Because of writers just know about historical sense and create something new.
3) What is the relationship between"tradition" and "the individual talent" according to the poet T.S.Eliot ?
According to the poet T.S.Eliot the tradition it means writer develop historical sense and observe literary tradition from Homer then writer to write something new it is called individual talent so that the writer writes with history in his bones. This description though we know that tradition is bones of individual talent.
4) Explain:" Some can absorb knowledge, the more tardy must sweat for it. Shakespeare acquired more essential history from Plutarch than most men could from the whole British museum".
It means that writers must have been understand sense of literary reading others can learn by absorbing from experience and observation and a little reading. It means Writer must have wide knowledge. Of course Shakespeare was not educated but Shakespear such great arrange of character,themes,plot and thought in his work. Its seems that Eliot anticipated that somebody will question him on Shakespeare, as being an exception to the rule, he is giving in his essay.
5) Explain: " Honest criticism and sensitive appreciation is directed not upon the poet but upon the poetry."
It means that real criticism directed upon poetry not upon poet. This line through he says that poet should not involve his personal life on his poetry because poetry must be impersonal process if poet described his personal thoughts so that poetry lost its real charm. After the long time reader can not understand poet's real ideas behind of his poetry because reader surrounding change so how can reader understand poet's personal experience.
6) How would you like to explain Eliot's theory of depersonalization ? You can explain with the help of chemical reaction in presence of cataylst agent, platinum.
I like his depersonalization theory explain to give this reference chemical reaction he try to explain the process when the two gases Oxygen and sulphur dioxide are mixed in the presence of a filament of platinum, they form sulphurous acid. This combination takes place only if the platinum is present, nevertheless the newly formed acid contains no trace of platinum and the platinum itself is apparently unaffected has remained inert and unchay. Creative process:
Catalyst
So3 + H2O--------> H2SO4
Platinum
This scientific reaction through explain the mind of the poet is the shred of platinum.
7) Explain " poetry is not a Turing loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion, it is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality".
It means that poetry is not expression of poet's personality or his personal emotions and feelings. It is esacpe from it. The more perfect the artist, the more completely separate in him will be the man who suffers and the mind which creates, the more perfectly will the mind digest and transmute the passions with are its material.
