Introduction-
Sense of an Ending novel is written by Julian Barnes. His  three of his earlier books had been shortlisted for the Booker Prize: Flaubert's Parrot (1984), England, England (1998), and Arthur & George (2005).
His recent publications novel sense of an Ending winner of the 2011 Man Booker Prize. The Sense of an Ending novel is divided in two parts. Tony Webster  is retired librarian who is protagonist and he narrates whole story with help of his fallible memory.
This reflection is achieved through various strategies, such as the narrator’s self-contradiction and the detection of the truth. One of the most evident and powerful literary techniques among these is repetition. In this book, not only words and sentences are repeatedly mentioned, but also scenes and discussions. The repetition forces readers to examine the story back and forth, creating an echoing effect within the narration.Repetition itself, with its recollection and reoccurrence, can remind readers of the notion of memory. Also, the variances in the repetitions can represent the inevitable deviation of human memory from the past experiences. A taxonomic analysis of repetitions will be made to illustrate how this particular strategy furthers the theme of memory in the novel.

‘Repetition’, as a literary technique, was effectively applied in Julian Barnes’ The Sense of an Ending. It was used to explain the imperfection and subjectivity of both memory and history, and to show the richness of human emotions that cannot be generalized by any universal philosophy. Repetition term use to repeat some of the words throughout the novel. Words like history, rest, great unrest, damage, Remorse, Regret, guilt etc. These are the words also connected without any explanation with human life. So Throughout the novel author use to repetition term and try to connect readers in his novel.
If statistics count memory word so it come thirty- one time in the novel. This word always clarified to readers  aware to readers it is memory of aged Tony Webster’s. And narrator also clarified at the of the text-
I remember, in no particular order:
‘Memory' also connected with each and every human being, every has memory good as well as bad memories. So Throughout novel memory word frequently coming which is also connected with human struggle . And during the reading of the novel readers continuously remember that is memory of Tony webster.

Further word is 'History’, this word repeatedly coming in the novel. Strategic counting so it come twenty-five times in the novel. Simple thought that our memories become history of the life or rear happen movement part of history. This word first coming  at Tony’s history class description, there his teacher ask questions about history. And Tony Webster’s narration of history it like metafiction because he attempt various definition of history -

History is the lies of the victors'.
‘History is that certainty produced at the point where the imperfections of memory meet the inadequacies of documentation.’

This word history also connect readers throughout the narration of Tony Webster. And if critical look this word it is also representation of human struggle because role of history is most important for each and every human's life. And history is imperfection of memory of documents.

The repetition of Eros and Thanatos name and it derived theme of novel death and love, if count statistically it come five time throughout the novel. And these words are also directed theme of the novel love and death. In this novel Robson reference character while Adrian progress of both mythical character. These characters are intervened with two drives- Life instinct ‘Eros' and Death instinct  Thanatos'. The analysis of these two words Eros and Thanatos derived from the Greek mythology, Eros procreats love and sexual desire while Thanatos drives a traumatic mind to death, unconscious desire of die. In the novel Reputation of the word to become theme because Adrian and Robson both characters are example of progress of theme love and death.

Further word is ‘Regret', this word is repetitive seen in the novel and if statically count this word coming five times in the novel. But this word sensation frequently arising in narrator tone. Tony Webster has deep feeling of regret.
For example Tony  say – “If nostalgia means the powerful recollection of strong emotions—and a regret that such feelings are no longer present in our lives—then I plead guilty.” Webster’s letter word also of regret - Well you certainly deserve one another and I wish you much joy. I hope you get so involved that the mutual damage will be permanent. I hope you regret the day I introduced you.’
So this word repetition also connected with reader and reader feel it also their problem present in the text because Regret word is correlated with human stamina because everyone is feel kind some kind of regret.
Damage word  oftentimes coming in this novel, if we count as statically it come Eighteen times in the novel. In this novel most of characters are damage by some critical situation. Tony Wester described his own damage-

What did I mean by “damage”? It was only a guess; I didn’t have any real evidence. But whenever I looked back on that unhappy weekend, I realized that it hadn’t been just a matter of a rather naïve young man finding himself ill at ease among a posher and more socially skilled family.
I certainly believe we all suffer damage, one way or another. How could we not, ex-cept in a world of perfect parents, siblings, neighbours, companions? And then there is the question, on which so much depends, of how we react to the damage: whether we admit it or repress it, and how this affects our dealings with others. Some admit the damage, and try to mitigate it; some spend their lives trying to help others who are damaged; and then there are those whose main concern is to avoid further damage to themselves, at whatever cost. And those are the ones who are ruthless, and the ones to be careful of.

This word is the describe entire human life struggle. This word reputation through connect readers they felt it is their story of damage and reader also think about their damage and reason of their damage so that kind of word also connected reader to the novel.
Further word Remorse, this word also key word key word of the novel and it is repetitive coming in the novel. Strategically count of this word so it come Eleven time in the novel.
Remorse—a feeling somewhere between self-pity and self-hatred. In part two Tony Webster tell about his remorse feeling -hatred—‘ about my whole life. All of it. I had lost the friends of my youth. I had lost the love of my wife. I had abandoned the ambitions I had enter- tained. I had wanted life not to bother me too much, and had succeeded—and how pitiful that was.’
Remorse word is repetition term example and it also essential part of human beings. Again Julian Barnes use of key word which is attached human life and reader supposed thought about their remorse.

Other word is ‘Rest' and its opposite word ‘Unrest', strategic counting of this word Rest coming five time and Unrest coming five times in the novel. This novel is result of Tony's unrest when Sarah Ford letter getting in this letter Sarah Ford given 500 pounds to Tony and written “blood money”. Then Tony Webster quests to know reality of blood money so it become unrest for him. At the end of the novel he solves formula of the Adrian and know reality of the situation but even end with this statement –

There is accumulation. There is responsibility. And beyond these, there is unrest. There is great unrest.’

Conclusion –
This type of using repetition term of word by  Julian Barnes and his novel attract readers and readers also correlate with that key words. And readers want to reread the novel and get different meanings of the novel.  So I can say that the writing is beautiful and beyond words and the philosophy which is expressed well in the novel. It will sure make you think, if you read, over memory, aging and consequences. Stylistically the novel appears to be quite a mature text. In the novel Barnes has engaged the untidy collisions of the human struggle more directly than ever made.
